The WEEE regulations require producers to
ensure that their products are disposed of in an environmentally sensitive
manner at the end of their useful life. For more information go to: www.berr.gov.uk.
The RoHS regulations apply to the same products as the WEEE
regulations (with some exceptions), and require producers to remove
certain substances from their products. See
www.rohs.gov.uk for more information.
DMS technologies produces a wide range of products, some of which are
covered by the WEEE & RoHS regulations and some of which are not. Examples
of products that are covered by the regulations include our Portable Power
Pack Range, Charger Range and some of our custom-made battery products.
Examples of products that are not covered by the WEEE & RoHS regulations
include most of our simple Battery Packs which principally comprise cells,
shrink-wrap, output leads and basic control components. The environmental
impact of these products is regulated by a separate Batteries and
Accumulators Directive. Additionally, the WEEE & RoHS regulations include
some exemptions that affect some of our products, notably:

• Those intended for specific military purpose
• Those that are part of a fixed installation
DMS technologies is complying with the WEEE
regulations by contracting-out our obligations to a Producer Compliance
Scheme. If you are a customer of DMS and you have waste electrical or
electronic equipment of our origin to dispose of, then the return path for
this WEEE will be through our compliance scheme provider who will arrange
to pick up the waste from your premises.
DMS technologies is a member of the b2b Producer Compliance Scheme in
respect of products falling within the scope of the WEEE regulations.
Please refer to the b2b website at
www.b2bcompliance.org.uk. If you are
a final user and you have end-of-life products for disposal then please
contact b2b Compliance on 01691 676124 or call us for assistance. Our
producer registration number is WEEE/CB0049TZ.
DMS technologies is also actively working towards RoHS compliance by
analysing our products that are required to be compliant and sourcing RoHS
compliant replacement components where necessary.
The Batteries Directive mentioned above is currently under revision. DMS
technologies has an active interest in this directive and its revisions
and is fully aware of its implications.
If you have any questions about environmental issues relating to batteries
and how they relate to the WEEE & RoHS regulations and the Batteries &
Accumulators directive, please contact us.
